Our regular round-up of what’s been going on in the Golley Slater Cardiff office over the last seven days.

#1 Our PR campaign for Public Health Wales picked up an industry award

On Thursday, we were delighted to pick up the ‘Best Public Sector Campaign’ award at the regional PRCA Dare Awards in Bristol, for the PR activity on our integrated ‘Water Keeps You Well’ campaign for Public Health Wales.

Despite being easily preventable, dehydration can have serious consequences; good hydration can assist in the management and prevention of many medical conditions that cause harm to NHS patients in Wales. ‘Water Keeps You Well’ was an overarching, integrated campaign concept, under which all activity fell; including partnership marketing, a marketing campaign in healthcare settings, and a supporting social and media relations campaign. Highlights of the PR activity included the distribution of more than 10,000 marketing materials within hospitals, the generation of 20 pieces of media coverage, over 1,000 users of the #QuenchYourThirst hashtag, and 150,000 views on our video content.

You can read more about ‘Water Keeps You Well’ in our campaign case study.

#2 Tickets for our ‘Access All Areas’ event with Creative Cardiff sold out

‘Access All Areas’ is a new series of events curated by Creative Cardiff, offering an exclusive opportunity to go inside well-known businesses and learn more about their creative roots in the city. We’ve signed up to take part first, and will be welcoming 25 curious creatives to our office to out more about what we do and how we do it, on the morning July 4th.

#3 Our Advertising MD joined the Hugh James Legal team to raise money for Princes Gate Trust

Partners and staff from top-100 law firm and client Hugh James, cycled from Aberystwyth to Cardiff over two days to raise money for the Princes Gate Trust. Joined by our Advertising MD Mike Leeson, and ex-Wales rugby captain Ryan Jones, the cyclists covered 90 miles a day, via an overnight stay in Saundersfoot. If you’d like to donate to Mike’s fundraising page – where he’s already collected over £1,000 from generous donors, click here.

#4 We celebrated great results for our “Train Work Live” advertising Campaign

The ‘train, work, live’ digital advertising campaign we created for the Welsh Government has helped fuel a rise in the number of GPs considering living and working in Wales. Currently 91% of the 136 available family doctor training places with the NHS in Wales have been filled, compared to 75% at the same stage last year. It’s always great to hear about the tangible results that our campaigns deliver, especially when it concerns something as important as NHS staffing. Health Secretary Vaughan Gething said “the campaign, as well as financial incentives and more of a culture of cooperation in Wales between government and the profession” had all combined to help recruitment.
